Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Coordinator & Liaison (AFS-300) FAA
Ryan comes to us with over 20+ years of experience in aviation education, air carrier, general aviation, and repair stations. Ryan holds multiple certificates: FAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, FAA Senior Parachute Rigger, and FCC Ham radio licenses. In addition to this, he has an extensive background in avionics. He served eight years in the Army and is an Iraq War Veteran. Former Adjunct Professor & Instructor for such Universities as Embry-Riddle. He is an avid aircraft modeler and drone racer. Ryan is a published author and currently still writes for the FAA. You will see his work in FAA guidance materials, SAFOs, inFOs, and Advisory Circulars. As a FAA STEM AVSED Outreach Representative, he visits schools and ACE Academy Camps, where he hosts a variety of STEM events to include drone demonstrations. Ryan has been involved in UAS since 2012. With the FAA, he serves in multiple roles as an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) subject matter expert. Such roles as: Division UAS Coordinator, Liaison, Program Manager, Specialist, Front Line Manager, & UAS Integrated Pilot Program (IPP) Team Lead. Ryan is heavily involved with the UAS Integrated Pilot Program (IPP). He sits on a variety of project boards and exemption teams. He coordinates & provides technical assistance to specialists in the following areas:
1. Urban Air Mobility/Advance Air Mobility
2. AFS-300 UAS Focal Points
3. 14 CFR Part 107 & 135 applications Applicant Certification Efforts
